Abstract

ABSTRACT Hip dysplasia (HD) is a rare orthopedic condition in cats, with limited literature. This case report describes the use of acetabular chemical neurolysis with neurolytic ethanol solution for palliative pain relief in a 10-year-old female cat with right hip luxation, unresponsive to conservative treatment. The cat underwent femoral head and neck excision followed by injection of 3mL neurolytic ethanol into the right acetabulum. Clinical assessments up to 180 days showed progressive improvement in lameness and decreased local sensitivity, with no adverse effects. These results suggest that chemical neurolysis combined with surgery may be an effective palliative option for managing pain in feline CFD. Further studies are recommended to validate the safety, efficacy, and applicability of this technique in felines with CFD.
