Plain-English summary
A 10-year-old male Labrador Retriever was brought to the vet because he had significant hair loss and scaling on his head and limbs, with some patches on his body. After examining skin samples, the vet diagnosed him with follicular mucinosis, a rare skin condition in dogs. This condition involves changes in the hair follicles that lead to the formation of cysts filled with a jelly-like substance. Treatment options weren't specified, but understanding this condition can help guide future care.

Abstract
Abstract- A 10-year-old male Labrador Retriever dog presented with alopecia and scaling that was extensive in the head and limb regions and patchy over the trunk. The major histopathological feature was degeneration of the outer root sheath with disruption of keratinocytes and formation of cystic spaces filled with mucin. A diagnosis of follicular mucinosis was made. This case report represents the first case of this syndrome in the canine species. [Bell, A., Oliver, F.
