Plain-English summary
A group of puppies became seriously ill and sadly died due to a dangerous strain of canine coronavirus (CCoV). While most cases of CCoV cause mild stomach issues, this outbreak led to severe organ damage and was fatal. The puppies showed signs of severe illness, but specific symptoms were not detailed. Unfortunately, the outcome was tragic, highlighting the potential severity of this virus in young dogs.

Abstract
Canine coronavirus (CCoV) is usually responsible for mild, self-limiting infections restricted to the enteric tract. We report an outbreak of fatal disease in puppies caused by a pathogenic variant of CCoV that was isolated from organs with severe lesions.
