Plain-English summary
A young female Beagle was brought in with a large mass in her abdomen and low blood sugar levels. The veterinarian performed surgery to remove the tumor, which was identified as an embryonal nephroma (a type of kidney tumor). After the surgery, the dog's blood sugar returned to normal. However, six weeks later, follow-up X-rays showed that the cancer had spread to her lungs.

Abstract
SUMMARY A large, solid-tissue mass in the cranial part of the abdomen of a young female Beagle was accompanied by hypoglycemia. Surgical removal of the neoplasm, histologically an embryonal nephroma, resulted in normal glucose levels. At 6 weeks after the operation, radiographic evidence of pulmonary metastases was seen.
