Plain-English summary

In a study involving six dogs and one cat, veterinarians used special prong-type tissue anchors during different orthopedic surgeries to help fix or replace tendons and ligaments. After the procedures, all the pets were able to return to their normal activities with very few issues. This suggests that the use of these anchors can be effective in helping pets recover from orthopedic problems.

Abstract

Prong-type tissue anchors were used in six dogs and one cat in a variety of orthopaedic procedures in order to aid repair and replacement of tendons and ligaments. All animals returned to normal function with minimal problems.
