Plain-English summary

A 4-year-old pregnant goat was brought to the vet because she was in severe pain and unable to stand during labor. The vet found that the goat had a leech infestation, with 20 leeches found during the delivery. Although the baby goat was delivered, it had serious swelling and breathing problems and sadly died a few hours later. The leeches likely contributed to the complications during the birth.
