Abstract
Ornamental fish constantly face exposure to numerous pathogens in their aquatic environment, which are often ubiquitous and carried on or within the fish. These fish live in artificial systems with continuous recirculation of pathogens, making them inherently nonsterile. Disease outbreaks typically occur when the fish's immune defenses are compromised, often due to stressors like poor water quality, improper diet, or unsuitable conditions. Effective management relies on understanding disease transmission, signs, and treatments. Treating infectious diseases can be challenging due to varying levels of owner knowledge and influences from the Internet, emphasizing the importance of systemic biosecurity and tailored treatment plans.
