Abstract

ABSTRACT This article describes the use of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) for dental evaluation of a guinea pig, utilizing the i-CAT 3D CT scanner designed for human use. The animal was induced with inhalation anesthesia and positioned vertically using a contention tube. All structures, including the temporomandibular joint, were evaluated, enabling dental and bone alterations diagnosis. This examination method is a feasible option for evaluating the dental health of guinea pigs due to the high-quality images it produces and the relatively low cost of installation and operation.
