Original publication title: Correction of cervical esophageal stricture in a dog by creation of a traction diverticulum.
- Species:
- dog
Plain-English summary
A dog with a narrowing in its esophagus was treated with a surgical procedure that created a diverticulum, or pouch, to help alleviate the problem. While the dog still had some issues with how the esophagus moved above the stricture, the surgery significantly improved its ability to eat and swallow. This simple yet effective approach helped the dog feel much better overall after the treatment.

Abstract
A cervical esophageal stricture was corrected in a dog by creation of a traction diverticulum. Although abnormal esophageal motility persisted in the portion of the esophagus cranial to the stricture, the clinical effects of the stricture were ameliorated by the simple surgical procedure.
