Plain-English summary
A 2-day-old male Charolais crossbred calf was brought in because he was unable to swallow due to a piece of an esophageal feeding tube stuck in his throat. The veterinarian felt the obstruction in the calf's neck and decided to perform surgery to remove it. After a rumenotomy (surgery to open the stomach), the foreign body was successfully taken out, allowing the calf to eat normally again.

Abstract
A 2-day-old male Charolais crossbred calf presented with a section of an esophageal feeding tube partially obstructing his esophagus. External palpation of the neck confirmed the location of the obstruction to be within the cervical esophagus. A rumenotomy was performed and the foreign body was successfully removed.
