Original publication title: Large granular lymphocyte pleocytosis in the cerebrospinal fluid of a dog with necrotizing meningoencephalitis.
- Species:
- dog
Plain-English summary
A dog with neurological problems was found to have an unusual number of large granular lymphocytes in its cerebrospinal fluid, which is the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This condition was linked to necrotizing meningoencephalitis, a serious inflammation of the brain and its protective layers. The presence of these lymphocytes in the cerebrospinal fluid is a new finding in dogs with similar issues. Treatment details were not provided, but this discovery could help veterinarians better understand and diagnose neurological diseases in dogs.
