Abstract

AbstractNeuroretinal transplantation techniques have been evolving during recent years. Experiments in rodent models with degenerative retinal disease have been encouraging. This paper describes a surgical technique developed for use in the Abyssinian cat mutant. After two‐port pars plana vitrectomy, retinotomy and bleb formation, whole sheets of neonatal neuroretinal allografts were placed into the subretinal space. The surgery was difficult but feasible, and the main complication was intraoperative hemorrhage.
