Numerical simulation of the effects of subcutaneous injection in conjunction with periodic compression on tissue pressure and drug diffusion.

Abstract
This paper investigates the effects of periodic compression on tissue pressure, drug diffusion, and pain sensation during subcutaneous injection. A tissue porosity model was developed based on fluid dynamics principles and simulated on the Fluent platform with dynamic mesh techniques. The results demonstrated that periodic compression reduced tissue pressure and improved drug diffusion compared to the control group. The combination of small amplitude and low-frequency periodic compression enhanced drug absorption, minimized local drug accumulation, and alleviated pain during injection. These findings suggest that periodic compression improves the efficiency of subcutaneous drug delivery.
