Abstract

In the research on lateral vented explosions of gasoline vapor-air mixtures in pipelines with different opening pressures, the paper conducts a numerical simulation study of gasoline vapor-air mixture explosions in a rectangular pipeline with a length-to-diameter ratio of 15. By analyzing the explosion flame morphology, unburned fuel gas distribution, flow field structure, and overpressure variation characteristics, the results reveal that there are two different explosion modes with and without constraints, forming five typical overpressure peaks: <i>P</i> 1, <i>P</i> un, <i>P</i> ext, <i>P</i> 2, and <i>P</i> 3. There is a strong dynamic coupling relationship among explosion flame behavior, unburned fuel gas distribution, and flow field structure. The three overpressure peaks <i>P</i> 1, <i>P</i> un, and <i>P</i> 2 in the internal explosion field, as well as the explosion intensity index, external explosion time, and external explosion delay time, are all related to the opening pressure.
