Plain-English summary

A cat was brought to the veterinary hospital in shock, showing signs of low body temperature, dehydration, and pale gums. Blood tests showed low lymphocyte levels, high eosinophils, and moderate anemia. Unfortunately, during the examination after death, it was found that the cat had a severe infestation of a liver parasite called Opisthorchis felineus, which had caused significant damage to the liver and gallbladder. This case highlights the importance of recognizing symptoms of parasitic infections in pets.
