Abstract

BACKGROUND: Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease (LCPD) is characterized by ischemic necrosis of the femoral head, primarily affecting small-breed dogs. CASE DESCRIPTION: An 11-month-old female toy poodle presented with hindlimb lameness due to LCPD. The dog was treated with intra-articular injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and clinical improvement was evaluated using lameness scoring, range of motion, thigh girth measurements, and radiographic assessment. CONCLUSION: PRP administration resulted in significant clinical improvement, including reduction in lameness, minimal requirement of pain relief, cessation of bone lysis, and increased muscle mass by day 44 post-treatment.
