Abstract

ABSTRACT It is generally believed that pregnancy in most species requires critical amounts of ovarian secretions for its maintenance. Since these secretions, as judged by the appearance of the uterus and accessory organs, are considerably diminished during the anoestrum (in those species which have a limited breeding season) we have investigated the behaviour of animals which become pregnant at the end of the breeding season so that pregnancy extends into the time normally occupied by anoestrum.
