Abstract

SUMMARY The first 10,016 canine pelvic radiographs evaluated in a nationwide hip dysplasia control program were classified into 4 categories. The distribution of classifications was: normal, 65.5%; near-normal, 5.6%; dysplastic, 19.8%; and repeat-study-advised, 9.1%. Differences in the prevalence of canine hip dysplasia on the basis of sex were not significant. Of the radiographs submitted, 90% were of large and medium-sized dogs from the working and sporting breeds.
