Abstract
Abstract This case report details the clinical investigation of a 3‐year‐old, entire, female guinea pig ( Cavia porcellus ) presenting with progressive exophthalmos of the right eye. Advanced imaging via computed tomography identified a hypoattenuating retrobulbar mass with a hyperattenuating peripheral ring, causing dorsolateral displacement of the globe. A ventral transpalpebral anterior orbitotomy was performed to excise the retrobulbar lesion without enucleation. Postoperative recovery was uneventful, with restoration of normal appearance within 5 days. Histopathological analysis confirmed the mass to be a lipoma. This case report highlights a successful surgical approach to a retrobulbar mass in a guinea pig, offering a globe‐sparing alternative in the management of space‐occupying orbital lesions in this species. However, this approach may not be suitable for firm or invasive orbital tumours such as carcinomas or sarcomas.
