Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance, and in particular multidrug resistance, is a potential cause of severe illness in humans and animals. Open wounds are not uncommonly encountered in veterinary medicine, and they provide a medium for bacterial colonisation by a wide range of bacteria, including those that show multidrug resistance.
