Plain-English summary
Two German Shepherds with painful perianal fistulas (PAF), which are abnormal openings near the anus, were treated successfully with oclacitinib, a medication that helps reduce inflammation and itching. Traditionally, ciclosporin is used for this condition but can cause unwanted side effects. In these cases, oclacitinib proved effective in managing the symptoms without the same level of adverse effects. Both dogs showed improvement and relief from their discomfort after starting the treatment.
