Plain-English summary
A cat had a complete rupture of a tendon and several ligaments in its knee joint, which caused significant instability and pain. To fix this, the veterinarian performed surgery to stitch the tendon back together, reinforced the joint capsule, and created a synthetic ligament to stabilize the knee. After the surgery, the cat was able to recover and regain function in its leg.

Abstract
We report a case of complete rupture of the tendon of origin of the long digital extensor at the myotendinous junction, with concurrent ruptures of the posterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments in the stifle joint of a cat. Stabilization was accomplished by direct suturing of the long digital extensor injury, imbrication of the joint capsule and lateral retinacular fascia, and creation of a synthetic lateral collateral ligament
