Plain-English summary
A 9-year-old female horse was brought in because she was showing signs of colic, which is abdominal pain, late in her pregnancy. The veterinarians found that her uterus had twisted, a condition known as uterine torsion, and they were able to fix this problem by performing a caesarean section. After the surgery, a healthy foal was born, and the mare recovered well from the procedure.
