Original publication title: Bilateral sinus cysts in a filly treated by endoscopic sinus surgery.
Plain-English summary
A young female horse, known as a filly, had cysts in both her frontal and back maxillary sinuses. To treat this, veterinarians used a minimally invasive procedure called endoscopic sinus surgery, which allows them to look inside the sinuses without making a large cut. This method is beneficial because it provides a thorough examination of the sinuses that wouldn't be possible with traditional surgery. The treatment aimed to resolve the issue effectively.
Abstract
Bilateral cysts in the frontal and caudal maxillary sinuses in a filly treated by endoscopic sinus surgery (sinoscopy) and triangulation technique are described. Sinoscopy has the advantage of being a minimally invasive technique and permits a complete inspection of the frontal and maxillary sinuses, which is not possible through flap sinusotomy.
