Plain-English summary
A study in Brazil found that 219 out of 1,576 dogs tested positive for Ehrlichia, a type of blood parasite that can cause serious health issues. Symptoms of infection can include anemia and low platelet counts, which may lead to fatigue and increased bleeding. The diagnosis was confirmed by examining blood samples under a microscope. Treatment typically involves antibiotics, which can help manage the infection and improve the dog's health. If you notice unusual symptoms in your dog, it's important to consult your veterinarian for testing and appropriate care.
