Plain-English summary
This study looked at the characteristics of seizures in dogs with epilepsy from the UK, involving 1,260 dogs from 79 different purebred breeds as well as some mixed-breed dogs. The researchers found new information about how these seizures occur in different breeds. This could help veterinarians better understand and manage epilepsy in dogs. The findings highlight the importance of breed-specific patterns in treating canine epilepsy.
Abstract
In this study, previously unreported cohort characteristics and seizure patterns for canine epilepsy were identified from a series of UK-based epileptic dogs containing 1260 cases from 79 known pedigree breeds and a group of crossbreed dogs.
