Plain-English summary
A 5-year-old male horse had a tumor called an ossifying ameloblastoma, which is a type of growth that can occur in the jaw. This tumor was located in the corner of the right jawbone and was made up of clusters of cells that normally form teeth, along with some bone and connective tissue. The details of the tumor's structure suggest it was a complex growth. The outcome of the treatment for this condition is not mentioned in the abstract.
Abstract
The features of an ossifying ameloblastoma in a 5-year-old gelding are described. The tumour developed in the angle of the right mandible and microscopically consisted of multiple follicles and islands of epithelial tissue adjacent to which were trabeculae of bone, osteoid and compact collagenous tissue.
