Plain-English summary
Two German Shepherds developed skin cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) on their noses after suffering from untreated chronic skin lesions caused by discoid lupus erythematosus, a condition that affects the skin. These dogs had these lupus lesions for 4 to 6 years without any treatment or sun protection, which likely contributed to the cancer's development. It's important for pet owners to monitor any persistent skin issues and seek veterinary care, as early treatment can help prevent serious complications like cancer.
