Abstract
Since its discovery in 1958, the orthopox monkeypox virus, a cause for mpox, has remained endemic in the African continent. Recently, a major epidemiological change in mpox virology is causing a global emergence. This review focuses on the novel mpox clades and explores transmission methods which are critical for public health measures and infection prevention.
