Plain-English summary

A 6-year-old female Chihuahua was brought in for sudden weakness in her back legs, a condition known as triparesis, caused by a blood clot (acute arterial thrombosis) and a serious infection of the uterus (pyometra). The veterinarian treated her with warfarin, a medication that helps prevent blood clots. This combination of treatments was successful, and the dog showed improvement.
