Original publication title: Cytogenetic characterization of mammary tumors in two domestic dogs.
- Species:
- dog
Plain-English summary
An 11-year-old cocker spaniel and a 12-year-old poodle were diagnosed with mammary tumors, which are growths in the breast tissue. The cocker spaniel had a significant number of abnormal cells, while the poodle's tumor cells showed several genetic changes. These findings can help veterinarians understand the nature of these tumors better and guide treatment options. It's important for pet owners to monitor for any unusual lumps or growths in their pets and consult a veterinarian for evaluation.

Abstract
Tumor cells of two cases of mammary neoplasms in dog were investigated cytogenetically. An 11-year-old cocker spaniel showed a marked X-chromosome in most metaphases (80%). In a 12-year-old poodle, tumor cells with the following abnormalities were found: trisomy 1, monosomy X and two marker chromosomes.
