Plain-English summary
A 7-year-old female dog was diagnosed with inflammatory mammary carcinoma, a serious and aggressive type of breast cancer. To assess how far the cancer had spread, veterinarians used a special imaging technique called PET/CT scan. This advanced imaging helped them understand the extent of the tumor and decide on the best treatment plan. Early detection and thorough evaluation are crucial for improving outcomes in dogs with this condition.

Abstract
Inflammatory mammary carcinoma is known to be aggressive, which makes thorough evaluation of the severity of tumour infiltration and metastasis important in determining a recommended treatment course. This case report describes the use ofF-2-deoxy-2-fluoro-d-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography for evaluating the invasiveness and metastasis of inflammatory mammary carcinoma in a dog.
