Abstract

Sulphonamide antibiotics are a commonly used, and important, group of antibiotics in veterinary dermatology. However, many of the commonly used sulphonamides such as sulphamethoxazole, sulpha‐diazine, or sulphasalazine are associated with idiosyncratic drug reactions in dogs. This paper will review the clinical syndromes, pathogenesis of sulphonamide hypersensitivity reactions and current methods for predicting these occurrences.
